Character Design: Concept art

This will be the main concept art for the Gamestarter page.

Character Design: Icon development

Examples of how the icons will be on the screen during gameplay. I was playing around with the compostion and colour of the icons. I chose to go with the candyfloss and rainbow to go with the parodic theme the game has of a kids game, with things being purposefully too cute and sweet.

I think I'm sticking with the first one with the three heads and digits to show the characters life.

Character Design: Level examples

Here are two environment examples from the sugar cave before designing the interface and game icons. Both environments contain obstacles the characters most conquer and pass to proceed through the levels.

Lace forrest

This first level is filled with strawberry lace trees, chocolate flake trunks and marshmallow boulders.

Character Design: Facial Expression

Here are a few different character facial expressions which wont all necessarily be used in gameplay but were made to show just how the complex face structure of the characters work during the game.

Soundscape: Colour Palette

Colour Testing

Mostly warm colours create my animatic theme

Soundscape: Concept art

Concept for Animatic

I want my animatic to be very derelict and deserted so that most of the sounds made are coming directly from the main focuses, Francis Bacons figures. The background noises would majorly be strong winds and desert birds.

Photoshop Thumbnail (3)

Last Thumbnail idea before final development

This is the last of my final 3 ideas that will be further developed into my 3 finished concept paintings. for this particular thumbnail I used various textures to get the ancient inscriptions on the walls, I'm not sure if i was subtle enough though. What do you think?

Photoshop Thumbnail (2)

Second Photoshop Thumbnail

Like my first digital thumbnail, this one was just an exploration of perspective and depth but I'm really happy with the finished product so I'm keeping it as another final idea which I will experiment with further.

I was told by Jordan (digital painting lecturer) that I should veer away from using such soft brushes which I will do in future with my colour and composition studies of this scene. I know I've made some obvious mistakes and miscalculations but I'm hoping with the practice my further studies of these scenes will give me, my technique with photoshop will improve immensely.
